10 Coolest Cartoon Cars

Monday August 17, 2009 5:00 AM

Cartoons are a fantasy, fanboys. And there’s nothing better to fantasize about than a new car! Well, maybe there’s one thing better. Cartoon cars are the ultimate fantasy because they defy physics, are custom designed and when they crash they are easy to fix. It wasn’t easy, but today we present to you the 10 Coolest Cartoon Cars!

10. Fred Flintstone’s car from “The Flintstones”
Think how incredibly well-balanced the suspension must be for you to be able to push this baby with your feet. This is an amazing feat of prehistoric engineering! Save your pyramids, your Stonehenges and your ancient Egyptian milkshakes, this is the Eighth Wonder of the Ancient World!

9. The Mystery Machine from “Scooby-Doo”
The Mystery Machine was a certainly mystery for fans of the show. Where did these hippies get the money for such a nice van? How often did Shaggy smoke pot in it? Why didn’t Fred fill it with mattresses so he could bang Daphene in comfort? One day we dream that the doors to the van will be opened to all.

8. The Thunderbolt Greaseslapper from “Tom Slick”
Yes, fanboys, we’re reaching way back for this one. “George of the Jungle” had other cartoon characters on the show, including Tom Slick the race car driver. He was kind of like Dudley Do-Right mixed with Rusty Wallace without all the hillbilly worship. His car can come apart and back together again during an awesome theme song.

7. The Ambiguously Gay Duo’s car
We’re not sure about Ace and Gary (Do those guys have girlfriends, or are they…ya know?), but they had an awesome car. What? It is awesome. It fires a laser out of the front and goes fast. Why? What does it look like to you?

6. The Mach 5 from “Speed Racer”
As Spridle once said about the Mach 5: “Yes! Speed-has-the-fastest-car-on-the-track-and-he-drives-it-very-fast-to-win-all-the-races-I-hope-he-wins! Ooooh.” What can be better than a bullet-proof race car that can jump over houses and cut down trees as you drive through the forest? Okay, yes that is better, but again, we’re talking about cars.

5. Ecto-1 from “Ghostbusters”
You need a tough vehicle when you’re carrying four unlicensed nuclear accelerators in your trunk. The Ecto-1 from “Ghostbusters” provides a smooth ride, luxurious interior and the fast handling you need when you’re chasing down evil spirits or avoiding an angry god. Test drive the Ecto-1 today.

4. George Jetson’s flying car in “The Jetsons”
We’re still waiting for our flying car, fanboys. It can’t happen soon enough. We have a lot of rooftops to buzz and Frisbees to recover. Plus we hear Hayden Panettiere is sunbathing naked somewhere. The best part about the Jetsons car is it makes that cool sound that’s kind of like a pot boiling mixed with an electric shaver.

3. Dick Dastardly’s Mean Machine in “The Wacky Racers”
Behold! The ultimate of cartoon vehicle technology! Dick Dastardly’s car has a sleek, rocketship design with massive thrusters on the back and a comfortable seat for his ever chortling friend. No, not that guy, Mutley! Why did this guy even cheat? He’s the only one when a sensible race car!

2. Quagmire’s Wanna-Bang-O from “Family Guy”
This sweet ride was featured in “Family Guy” episode “Bango Was His Name Oh.” Quagmire’s Winnebago was equipped with robot arms to make a sexual harassment suit a breeze. If you don’t mind the smell of stank, this baby has everything. Well, except a cure for herpes.

1. All the vehicles on “Metalocalypse
If you want true insanely impractical design mixed with the wet dreams of an Iron Maiden fan, the cars on Metalocalypse are the sh*t!
